The Search for Rachel, a father's journal

Monday, August 1 through Sunday, August 7, 2005

Tim Miller, the director of Texas EquuSearch, and I flew back from Aruba on Monday. A small group will remain to finish the landfill search. Almost all of the leads on missing Natalee Holloway's case have been checked out.

Last Saturday Rachel Alert Network members Elaine and Marie hosted our booth at a back to school children's health fair in East Austin. They handed out safety information, pens, and school supplies to the kids. Over 300 people came to the event.

Monday, August 8 through Sunday, August 14

I did some work with retired FBI profiler Mark Young this week. Mark has been helping on Rachel's case since the beginning. Hopefully the project Mark is working on will happen. I will announce details as they develop.

Some news came in on missing Tamika Huston's case. A suspect identified an area where he said Tamika's body is. Police searched the area and did find remains. Although the remains are believed to be those of Tamika, more tests will determine exactly who it is next week. My thoughts and prayers go out to Tamika's family in this very sad time.

Friday night I spoke with Kelly Jolkowski, mother of missing Jason Jolkowski. Kelly has started a new section for Project Jason. It's called Voice for the Missing. Kelly writes about one or more missing persons every week. The articles may be read at www.voice4themissing.blogspot.com.

Monday, August 15 through Wednesday, August 31

We have scheduled two M.U.S.T. self-defense and awareness classes. A seminar will take place at Lake Travis High School on Monday, September 12. More details on this seminar will be available soon. The second seminar, sponsored by the Lakeway Police Department and Rachel Alert Network, will be on Sunday, September 18, at 2:00 p.m. at the Lakeway Activity Center, 105 Cross Creek Drive, Lakeway.

I have been spending most of my time searching for employment, so RAN activities and this journal have been put on the back burner. Hopefully I will find a job soon, and the search for Rachel and RAN activities can be escalated.
