Friday, December 1 through Sunday, December 17, 2006 We had another successful bake sale fund-raiser this year. Thanks to our baked goods donators and customers we made over $1,200. The money will go toward M.U.S.T. self-defense seminars and other programs in which Rachel Alert Network is involved.A lot more people stopped by our bake sale booth at the Christmas Stroll this year because of the recent events involving Michael Moore. We also received a lot more donations, and many people told us to "keep the change". This extra money will help Rachel Alert Network do its job of assisting the missing and their families. I attended the Tree of Angels ceremony on December 5. Victims of violent crimes and their families hang an angel on a Christmas tree. For many years, People Against Violent Crime has sponsored the tree as a place to remember our loved ones this time of year. For most people the holiday season is a happy time. For victims of violent crimes and their families it is a difficult time because many of us have lost a loved one. Monday, December 17 through Sunday, December 31 Not much has happened with Rachel's case and Rachel Alert Network because of the holidays. We are still trying to schedule a M.U.S.T. self-defense and awareness seminar for February 2007. We are overdue for a seminar.I forgot to mention that Greg Allen, the father of missing Sabrina Allen, stopped by our bake sale booth at the Georgetown Christmas Stroll. He still feels Sabrina's non-custodial mother has Sabrina in Mexico. Hopefully 2007 will be the year Sabrina comes home. |
