The Search for Rachel, a father's journal |
|
Sunday, January 1 through Sunday, Januaery 8, 2005 I spoke again this week with the task force working on Rachel's case. They think one of the leads they have may turn into a substantial help in solving Rachel's case. I hope this lead is the right one to bring Rachel home. The last two months have brought in increased psychic leads. Some of the leads are pointing to Central Texas. We've always felt that Rachel was kept inside Texas. Some of the early psychic leads referred to California and Rhode Island. Although I don't want to discount other states completely, I feel Rachel was not taken out of Texas. The week brought forth both joy and sadness. The University of Texas won the national college football championship. This same week a mine collapsed in West Virginia, causing tragedy. Twelve miners were killed in a cave there. My thoughts and prayers go out to the mining victims and their families. Tuesday, January 10, 2006, will mark the fourth year that Rachel has been missing. Every year I ask myself the same question. "What happened to her and why can't we find her?" Monday, January 9 through Sunday, January 15 A small group of family members got together at Rachel's tree on January 10. That date marked four years since Rachel disappeared. The tree was planted on the one year anniversary of her disappearance. It's been a very difficult four years.I received a call from Texas EquuSearch. There is a missing 19-year-old male in the Killeen, Texas, area. Benjamin Lund has been missing since June 17, 2005. EquuSearch asked me to call Benjamin's mother and see how we can help out. I talked to his mother, and we may might be in Killeen next week. Monday, January 16 through Sunday, January 22 I spoke with law enforcement again this week. We went over some questions that they had for me. There are still three people working on Rachel's case. I feel they are doing the best that they can to solve the case.I received some nice heart pins from the Laci Peterson teddy bear maker. We will be giving these pins out locally. It really makes us feel better to receive all of the support that we have been getting. In two weeks I will be speaking at the Uniting the Search for Missing Children and Adults Conference in Appleton, Wisconsin. This is the first conference there. Fox Valley Technical College is hosting the conference. I work with Fox Valley on a regular basis doing the missing person training classes for law enforcement. They always produce a quality program. Monday, January 23 through Tuesday, January 31 Rachel Alert Network will have a table at the Children's Health Fair again this year. The fair is sponsored by the Insure A Kid organization. It takes place Saturday, February 11, from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. at the Dell Diamond in Round Rock. RAN will hand out pens and safety information.GINA for Missing Persons will host another international web cast, which features West Coast missing persons, on Thursday, February 2, 2006.
