The Search for Rachel, a father's journal |
|
Tuesday, November 1 through Sunday, November 6, 2005 Texas EquuSearch returned to Aruba last month to do some ocean sonar searches for missing Natalee Holloway. The search was unsuccessful. I know TES Director Tim Miller is heartbroken whenever they do not find missing persons like Rachel and Natalee. The Rachel Alert Network booth is confirmed at the Georgetown Christmas Stroll on Saturday, December 3. We will have another double booth and will sell baked goods and hot chocolate. I will be making a request for donations soon. Individual items sell the best because they allow people to munch while they stroll around. The Christmas Stroll is from noon until 8:00 p.m. this year. We will also have a booth at the Children's Health Festival at the Dell Diamond this February. RAN will hand out safety information. More information will be coming soon on this. Monday, November 7 through Sunday November 13 I added an information web page for the Rachel Alert Network bake sale on December 3. For information about the event and how you can donate baked goods, please see Rachel's Message Board. Questions may be asked there or by e-mailing info@rachelalert.org. All proceeds from the bake sale will go to fund events like the M.U.S.T. self-defense and awareness seminars. The National Center for Missing Adults' First Responder training class is next week in Bismarck, North Dakota. We have a record 47 law enforcement personnel registered for the missing person training class. Four of the students are from Canada. I hope we don't get snowed in and not make it home for Thanksgiving. Monday, November 12 through Sunday, November 20 I flew to Bismarck, ND, Sunday morning for the law enforcement missing person training class on Monday and Tuesday. It was nice to arrive early instead of late at night like I usually do. We are expecting over 45 students. It will be the largest class to date.Contributions for the December 3 bake sale are going well. We have the minimum amount in order to have the booth. I'm hoping for a few more contributions. Monday, November 21 through Sunday, November 27 The law enforcement training class in Bismarck, North Dakota, began today. We have 48 students in the class. Four students are from Canada, one from Wisconsin, and the rest are from several law enforcement agencies in North Dakota. North Dakota is a sparsely populated state, so many of the agencies have under 10 law enforcement agents. We received our location at the Georgetown Christmas Stroll. Our December 3 bake sale booth is located just off the square on Main Street, right next to the Georgetown Visitors Bureau. One side of our booth will face the square, so we should be easy to spot. Bake sale contributions have been good, but we could still use some additional individually wrapped items. We will also be selling 16 oz. bottled water. If anyone would like to donate baked goods or bottled water, please e-mail info@rachelalert.org. |
