Saturday, October 1 through Sunday, October 9, 2005 Shawn Hornbeck's friends and family observed the third anniversary of his disappearance this week. I wish I could have attended the memorial, but I no longer have the vacation time to go out of town as much as I did before.I had a dream about our family on Thursday night. It took place several years ago when the girls were younger. It's nice to have those pleasant memories and dreams, but when I wake up the horror of reality returns. Our lives will never be the same again. Monday, October 10 through Monday, October 16 Next week we will resume the missing adult training courses for law enforcement. The class will be held in Appleton, Wisconsin on the Fox Valley Technical College campus. I look forward to seeing the other instructors. It's been over 5 months since we taught the last class.William Myears plead guilty to second degree murder in the death of Erika Dalquist. Although he sentence was less than one of a first degree murder, he will still be in prison for 250 months. A trial is very hard for a victim's family. Monday, October 17 through Sunday, October 23 Tuesday night I flew to Appleton, Wisconsin. On Wednesday Fox Valley Technical College and the National Center for Missing Adults hosted another missing person training class for law enforcement. Thirty-one students took the class. Those in attendance came from five different states. Next month we will teach the class in Bismarck, North Dakota.Rachel was featured on NBC's DATELINE program Thursday night. Our family was not notified, so we did not get to watch the segment on young women's safety. If anyone has the segment on tape and is willing to mail it to us, please e-mail rachelalert@yahoo.com. Monday, October 24 through Monday, October 31 I picked up a cold this week so I've been working slower. Hopefully I will get rid of it soon.I confirmed my speaking at the UNITING THE SEARCH FOR MISSING CHILDREN AND ADULTS conference in Appleton, WI in February. The conference is for law enforcement, service providers, and the families of the missing. Information about the conference may be found on the Fox Valley Technical College web site. |
