Friday, January 10th, marked one year since 19-year-old
Rachel Cooke disappeared while jogging near her Georgetown
home. The Cooke family observed the date by dedicating
a tree in her honor. The ceremony took place at
Georgetown High School, 2211 N. Austin Ave., at 5:00 p.m.
Around 100 Family members and friends wrote messages to Rachel on yellow ribbons and hang them on the tree. E-mails were received asking a ribbon to be placed on tree from an additional 71 people in 20 states plus Finland, The United Kingdom, Australia, and South Africa. Blue ribbons will be hung for 13 other missing or murdered persons at the request of the family. |
